7-Day Machame Route – Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Adventure

Tour highlights
The 7-Day Machame Route is one of the most scenic and successful routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Often called the "Whiskey Route," it offers breathtaking landscapes, excellent acclimatization, and a high summit success rate. This route takes climbers through lush rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and the arctic summit zone before reaching Uhuru Peak, Africa's highest point at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet).
With an extra acclimatization day compared to the 6-day option, the 7-day Machame Route gives climbers more time to adapt to the altitude, making it an excellent choice for both experienced hikers and adventurous first-time trekkers.
Itinerary Overview
We will guide you on this absolutely amazing, epic and awesome 7-day climb of Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route, an exquisite trail that takes in the best scenery the mountain has to offer, from picturesque rainforests and rocky ridges, to mesmerizing glaciers and sublime views back out over the land from the highest point in Africa.
The second most popular option among the climbers is the Machame route, also known as “the Whiskey Route”. This route offers a wide variety of views, landscapes and experiences. The starting point of the route, Machame Gate, is only a 20-minute drive from Aishi Machame Hotel. Located on the southern slope of Mt Kilimanjaro, Machame Gate will lead you to the top of Kilimanjaro along the exciting footpath which starts at the tropical forest, then runs through all the climate zones and finishes with the Arctic desert in the summit area.
Travel Itinerary
Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with an early morning drive from your hotel to Machame Gate, where you'll complete registration with the park authorities. After meeting your mountain guides, porters, and cook, your trek starts through Kilimanjaro's lush tropical rainforest. The trail winds beneath a dense canopy of giant trees draped with moss and ferns, creating a cool and peaceful atmosphere. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and colorful birdlife along the way. The trail gradually climbs until you reach Machame Camp, where your tents will already be set up. Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner, receive a briefing from your guide, and spend your first night on the mountain.
