Experience authentic Tanzanian culture during a visit to a traditional Maasai Boma where you will learn about Maasai traditions and local lifestyle. Continue to the remote wilderness of Nyerere National Park, famous for its untouched landscapes, rivers, lakes, and abundant wildlife including hippos, crocodiles, elephants, lions, and rare African wild dogs. Throughout the safari, enjoy comfortable mid-range accommodations, professional safari guiding, breathtaking scenery, and a scenic fly-out experience back to Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam.
Travel Itinerary
Early in the morning, you will transfer to the railway station in Dar es Salaam to board the 06:00 AM Standard Gauge Railway train heading to Morogoro. The modern train journey offers a comfortable and scenic travel experience through beautiful Tanzanian landscapes, local villages, and rolling countryside. Upon arrival in Morogoro, you will meet your professional safari driver-guide and continue with approximately a one-hour scenic drive to Mikumi National Park. After entering the park, you will begin an exciting guided game drive across the famous Mkata Floodplain, home to abundant wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, hippos, and numerous bird species. The open savannah plains provide excellent wildlife viewing and photography opportunities while surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery. Later in the evening, you will proceed to your comfortable mid-range lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay in Mikumi.
After breakfast, you will enjoy a morning game drive in Mikumi National Park before visiting a traditional Maasai Boma for an authentic cultural experience. During the visit, you will learn about Maasai traditions, customs, local lifestyle, traditional dances, and pastoral culture while interacting with members of the community. The experience offers a unique cultural perspective and insight into one of East Africa’s most iconic tribes. After the cultural visit, you will continue your scenic journey toward Nyerere National Park, Africa’s largest protected wildlife area and one of Tanzania’s most untouched safari destinations.
