Siniawan served as a vital trade line between the gold mining areas and the coast. Following the failed rebellion, many miners fled and the town saw a decline before being rebuilt in 1870. Today, the town is considered a living museum of Sarawak’s pioneering history. It is often referred to as a “Cowboy Town” due to its rustic and vintage atmosphere.
Every year in October, there is a grand event called “Cowboy Night” with dancing and singing. Since then, Siniawan has revived as a tourist attraction known for its Weekend Street Food Markets, held from Friday night until Sunday night.
