Itinerary Overview
This 6-day private Kenya safari offers a carefully balanced journey through four of the country’s most iconic wildlife regions. Starting in Nairobi, the route heads north to the semi-arid wilderness of Samburu National Reserve, known for its rare northern species and dramatic river ecosystems. From there, the itinerary continues into the cool highlands of the Aberdares, where guests experience a unique tree-top wildlife stay overlooking a floodlit waterhole.
The safari then descends into the Great Rift Valley for game viewing at Lake Nakuru National Park, a key sanctuary for rhinos, giraffes, and seasonal flamingos. The final stage takes you to the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, home to the Big Five, expansive savannahs, and some of Africa’s highest concentrations of wildlife.
Travel is in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with an experienced safari guide, ensuring comfort, flexibility, and optimal game viewing throughout the journey. Accommodation is in carefully selected lodges on a full-board basis, with all park fees, meals, and transfers included. The tour begins and ends in Nairobi, with airport pickup and drop-off provided.
Travel Itinerary
You will be picked up early in the morning from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi by the Jossec Safaris team for a short safari briefing before beginning your journey north toward Samburu National Reserve. Drive through the scenic central highlands, passing coffee plantations, local villages, and crossing the Equator en route to Kenya’s rugged northern frontier.
Arrive at Samburu Sopa Lodge in time for lunch and relaxation. The lodge is beautifully set on elevated ground with panoramic views of the semi-arid wilderness surrounding the reserve.
In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in Samburu National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most unique safari destinations. Samburu is famous for its rare northern species known as the “Samburu Special Five,” including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Wildlife viewing is concentrated along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephants, lions, leopards, crocodiles, and numerous bird species are commonly spotted.
