Travel Itinerary
Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, begin your city tour with a drive up to Entoto Park, located on the Entoto Mountains, offering panoramic views over the capital. Here you will also visit the historic Menelik II Palace, once the residence of Emperor Menelik II, the founder of modern Addis Ababa.
Afterwards, return to the city center and visit the famous National Museum of Ethiopia, where the world-renowned fossil “Lucy,” one of the oldest hominid skeletons ever discovered, is displayed alongside other important archaeological findings. Following the museum visit, enjoy a traditional Ethiopian meal and coffee experience. Later, explore Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa, where you will witness the vibrant daily life and trading culture of the city. After visiting the highlights of the capital, return to your hotel. Overnight in Aya Hotel, Addis Ababa.
In the morning, fly to Semera, then drive to Erta Ale Volcano. On the way, stop to see Lake Afdera and pass through volcanic mountains and dramatic landscapes. You will arrive at the foot of the volcano around 4–5 pm. As soon as you arrive, take a short break, then hike for about half an hour to reach the volcano. Visit the lava lake and enjoy the incredible natural scenery. Afterward, return to the camp where you will sleep under the stars.
