Travel Itinerary
Arrive at Mekele Airport and meet your driver. After a refreshing cup of Ethiopian coffee, drive through Berhale to reach Ahmedela. Set up camp, then visit Lake Asale for a refreshing swim. Witness the camel caravans crossing the salt flats at sunset before returning to the campsite.
Overnight: Campsite in Ahmedela
Visit Lake Asale to observe salt workers cutting salt bricks. Watch camels transport salt to the highlands, then Continue to Dalol, famous for its vibrant sulfur and salt formations. Return to Ahmedela for a short coffee break. Drive to Erta Ale, Ethiopia’s active volcano with a permanent lava lake. Trek to the volcano rim and enjoy the mesmerizing lava glow.
Overnight: Campsite near Erta Ale
Early morning trek to the lava lake (613m above sea level). Descend and drive to Lake Afdera, known for its hot springs. Swim and relax in the salt lake after your trek. Drive to Semera and catch your flight back to Addis Ababa
